Neil Patel writes on "How Many Veins Have you Tapped Into". He describes something my boss is very good at. It's essentially business networking. I thought the post was worth a read.

Sun, 06 Jul 2008 13:14:48 -0700 The Beauty of Batches - Being "in the flow". http://traeregan.posterous.com/the-beauty-of-batches-being-in http://traeregan.posterous.com/the-beauty-of-batches-being-in
I often try to explain "the flow" to my non-geek friends and family, but I'm never quite sure they leave the conversation understanding it. I am a big fan of batching work throughout the day, and I practice it off and on. When I am not practicing it, it's normally because I've been interrupted in some way, or wandered out of "the flow" by way of Digg or YouTube, etc.

Here's an article that references a book and links to another article, all relative to the topic at hand:

I'll be completely up-front in admitting I haven't read any of these  articles. I did, however, see Cal speak at Future of Web Apps - Miami earlier this year and I was very impressed by his knowledge and personality. He is the head of engineering for Flickr. At the other end of the link below you will find articles on: Javascript, Perl, PHP, Security and more.

Thu, 03 Jul 2008 14:36:07 -0700 Who Owns Your Online Documents? http://traeregan.posterous.com/who-owns-your-online-documents http://traeregan.posterous.com/who-owns-your-online-documents
I thought this was a particularly good read. You're supposed to have read these terms already if you're using the services mentioned in the article, but I am confident that most people don't read and/or fully understand the terms they're agreeing to. My business partners and I use Google Docs to maintain a document repository for most of our ideas and project notes, so some of this was pretty eye-opening and thought provoking.

Thu, 03 Jul 2008 13:08:34 -0700 Sleep! How to Reset Your Body Clock http://traeregan.posterous.com/sleep-how-to-reset-your-body-c http://traeregan.posterous.com/sleep-how-to-reset-your-body-c
I can't vouch for this article, as I haven't even come remotely close to a normal sleeping pattern for the last 8 years or more, nor have I tried any of the practices mentioned. From my experience though, I do know how frustrating it can be at times, so I present this article with hope that it will help someone recover from a nasty, random sleeping pattern.

I've sort of prided myself on working towards early retirement (albeit unsuccessfully by far at this point) but this article made me think about what it is I'm really after.

YouTube doesn't pertinently display how to find the feed URL for a specific user, but just a Google search away problem solved.

Mon, 30 Jun 2008 18:54:31 -0700 Battling Imposter Syndrome - You mean other people feel this way too? http://traeregan.posterous.com/managing-imposter-syndrome-you http://traeregan.posterous.com/managing-imposter-syndrome-you
"When I mention Imposter Syndrome to other folks I've met online, the first reaction is often the same: "you mean there are other people who feel this way too?" Knowing that, in fact, is a big step towards realizing that your feelings of inadequacy are, in fact, normal. There may be, somewhere, people who feel like they're always at the top of their game and that they know precisely how to do every task they're faced with. But I can't say that I've met a lot of them in software development or writing, the two professions I spend the most time with."
